As director of Le Poème Harmonique, chamber music ensemble specialising in the baroque repertoire and which he founded in 1997, Vincent Dumestre has performed and recorded (for the Alpha label) to great public enthusiasm and unanimous critical acclaim.

After studying art history he went on to specialise in early music (lute, baroque guitar and theorbo) at courses and masterclasses given by Hopkinson Smith and Eugène Ferré at the CNR of Boulogne and Toulouse.

He has participated with numerous ensembles such as Ricercar Consort, La Simphonie du Marais, le Concert des Nations, La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy, Akademia, and works in collaboration with the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.
